Students and Selection Process
For students to be admitted they should fill in an application form and write a 500-word essay explaining the reason why they are applying, their expectations and how the course will benefit them personally. (Application form attached)
Most of our students work in rehabilitation centers or prevention/outreach projects i.e. with drug addicts and 40% are recovering addicts seeking further equipping.
Many of those who have completed the course have gone on to set up pioneering rehab/prevention initiatives and networks in their own countries e.g. Egypt, Dagestan, Kenya and Pakistan.
Course of study
The course is called “A Certificate in Addictive Behaviour”, designed in close collaboration with Dr. Adrian Bonner, and inspired by the course delivered in University of Kent under the same name. Dr. Ehab was one of the tutors of this course in 1999 and 2000 during his study in Kent.
Addictive behaviour course consists of 12 taught modules. By the end of the course students would have attended 240 credit hours including practical work and groups. An assignment is requested of the students to hand in by the end of the first half of the course.
A second assignment is requested and consists of a log of how 3 clients were handled that the student should follow up with during 3 months from the end of the course. This assignment is the same one provided by the Certificate of Addictive Behaviour of Kent University.
The English course takes place during 6 weeks and the Arabic course during a year (one weekend per month i.e. 12 weekends).
